Belstone v Incorrigibles

BELSTONE maintained third spot in division two when they completed a comfortable eight-wicket win over visitors Incorrigibles.

After losing an early wicket Ryan Bowden (23) and Ed Pincombe (35) put on 46 for Incorrigibles but after that, although several batsmen got started, Belstone took wickets before any partner-ships developed. The best being the 39 runs put on for the sixth wicket between Selwyn Elston (22) and Ben Rushton (27). The most successful home bowler was skipper Richard Drake who cleaned up the tail with 3-15. There was a virtuoso display by wicketkeeper Simon Tremain, who snapped up three stumpings and a catch.

Needing 160 to win Belstone made steady progress with opener Tom Pearce laying a solid foundation with a fine 62 in a partnership of 102 for the second wicket with Sam Ewen. The chase was finished at a gallop by Ewen (43 not out) and Drake (20 not out) with 17 overs to spare.
