MEMBERS of the Ju Jitsu Tavistock, Launceston and Plymouth clubs attended a jujitsu seminar in memory of fellow martial artist Billy Doak Shihan who died in November 2009.
The workshop, held at the China Fleet Club, Saltash, was organised by Greg Regan sensei of the Ryu Jujutsu Association.
The guest instructor was Barry Davies sensei, who taught Billy Doak. All proceeds, which amounted to £550, were passed to Ty Bryngwyn Hospice.
Tavistock instructor Umberto Bergonzini, who first met Billy in 2002 when a martial arts seminar in Devon, said: 'Although the event had an element of sadness it was good to see old friends and to make new ones. And most importantly it was all for a good cause as the entire proceeds were donated to charity.'
In January 2013 all clubs are running beginner's courses and the first course is free.
