THERE were windy conditions for the Edinburgh Marathon where five runners from Okehampton Running Club were among the field.
The first to finish was Anne Binns who, determined to run under four hours after being a frustrating seven seconds short at Loch Ness last year, finished in a great time of 3 hours 55 minutes 46 seconds. There were also personal bests from Chris Aylen and Heather Richards and it was a first time at the marathon distance for Lucy Marrison.
ORC times: Anne Binns 3.55.46, Jane Jackson 3.59.31, Chris Aylen 4.11.19, Heather Richards 4.16.47, Lucy Marrison 4.52.51.
Much nearer home for ORC runners Andy Vallance came third in the Chagford Two Hills Race – a traditional village race of 3.45 miles starting from the playing fields and climbing a total of 1,076 feet up Meldon and Nattadon Hills. Andy completed in 29.11 minutes.
