FIVE Mount Kelly athletes were selected to represent Devon at the South West Schools’ Athletics Championships.
Oliver Smart came an impressive second in his 1,500m race. Jamie Bulbring was on top form coming a comfortable second in the 100m with a new personal best of 12 minutes 59 seconds. Ben Pitts was on flying form in the long jump coming second overall with a new PB of 6.13 metres, which is a national qualifying distance. Sophie Main came sixth in a fast 1,500m race and Ed Smart came seventh in his 1,500m race. Congratulations to Ben Pitts and Oliver Smart for their selection to represent Devon at the English Schools’ Athletics Championships in July.
YEAR 8 Mount Kelly athletes entered the ‘Plymouth and West Devon Athletics Association’s Year 8 Championships’ held at Brickfields on June 19.
They competed against 12 other schools including Devonport High School for Girls, DHS for Boys, Plymouth High and Plymouth College. The girls’ team built on their recent success, winning the competition for Mount Kelly for the first time.
The boys’ team also did extremely well, placed second overall. The following pupils for finishing first in their events: William Warren (shot and javelin), Fritz Dietz (high jump), Amelia Riggott (1,500m, 200m), and Annabelle Hess, Amelia Riggott, Zara Rizk and Isabel Sheil (relay).
