THERE was success in the Schools' County Cross Country Championships at Truro School for Callington College with Sam Lane de Courtin (Year 11) and Alice Rogers (Yr 13) both winning the U17s section for boys and girls respectively.

All students from the college who took part finished in the top 40 of their races with each race having around 100 entrants.

Sam came first in the inter boys 5,790m with a time of 21 minutes and 50 seconds, Tess Massenlink (Yr 10) came fourth in the inter girls distance of 4,045m with a time of 16 minutes and 43 seconds and Amy Bennalick (Yr 10) came ninth with a time of 19 mins and 11 seconds, Alice Rogers came first with a time of 16 mins and 53 sec in the senior girls distance and Jess Behennah (Yr 13) came fourth with a time of 18 mins and 55 secs.

Sam and Alice are now both Cornwall county cross country champions and are also Cornwall schools' champions — to hold both titles in the same year is something which has never been achieved before by Callington College.

Students finishing within the top 20 will now go on to the regional cross country championships to be held in Bristol on February 2
