FIVE pupils from Kelly College set out to Avon to compete among the region's best young runners and represent Devon at the South West Schools' Cross Country.

In the minor boys' race, Lachlan Fulton finished seventh out of 51; a great result on his first run at such a high level event while Sian Temple was sixth of 54 in the junior girls - finishing as the highest placed Devon athlete, beating the county champion by 18 seconds.

Robbie Nielsen was a 20th out of 56 in the junior boys' race.  Kelly also had two senior athletes competing at the event. Ellen Riis-White finished 16th out of 40 in the senior girls' race and in the senior boys Josh Carnell was 31st out of 51. All the Kelly athletes represented their county with distinction.  Sian, Robbie, Ellen and Josh will be selected for the Devon team to go to the English Schools' Championships in March; owever, because there are no minor events at the nationals, Lachlan cannot be selected.
