Okehampton U13s 15

Topsham U13s 25

THIS game was a keenly fought contest. The tackling of the Oke lads was, again, much improved - as was the scrummaging. They were committed to the rucks but could have arrived a little quicker and needed to be a little tighter, as Topsham were often able to come right through the middle.

Okehampton’s decision making could have improved, but in general they gave their all and on another day could easily have won.

Tries for Okehampton were scored by Rene and Ethan (2).

All the lads played well - Sam was excellent yet again, Alex, Isaac, Marcus and Tom had good all round games and Harry was their player of the week, for some awesome tackles, several good drives and his amazing ‘get up again’ attitude.

Tavistock welcomed Devonport Services and Okehampton to Sandy Park for what turned out to be a entertaining, if bitterly cold, morning of rugby. The hosts took on Devonport in the first match, with the home team easing ahead after Max capped a long run with a well finished try.

The game remained tight as Tavy were unable to capitalise on some fearless ball carrying from Mac and could not add to their score.

Both teams defended brilliantly and at half time the score remained one try to nil.

Immediately after the restart Devonport hit back with a fine individual effort.  It remains 1-1 until the last play of the game when the visitors snuck over the Tavistock try line to steal the honours in an evenly matched game.

AFTER a brief break whilst Okehampton and Devonport played out another tight game, it was Tavistock’s turn to face a powerful Okehampton side.

Once again the home side kept the defence tight with Brandon, Callum, Eddie and James all making great tackles.  Despite pressing several times,  Tavistock could not quite find a way to score and eventually the visitors’ physical size advantage told with Okehampton powering over for two tries in the first half and adding another two in the second.

Tavistock never gave up, with all the players giving everything in testing conditions, the boys should all be proud of how they played.
