Devon Colts merit

Tavistock Colts 41

Plymstock Colts 7

TAVISTOCK hosted Plymstock Colts for the sixth game in the Devon Merit cup, in very cold and windy conditions.

The home side were fourth in the table going into this encounter having won three games and lost two, but only four points from Exeter Youth who are top of the table. Facing the wind in the first half and going down to an early converted Plymstock try, Tavistock had their work cut out. They dug deep and produced a try from Toby Teague and one from Reuben Noy Scott and a conversion from Ed Nettleship.

Tavistock went in at half-time 12-7 ahead with the knowledge they had the wind behind them for the second half. It proved decisive as they upped their game and went on to score five more tries, one from Toby, Reuben and not to be outdone by his brother, a try for Olly Noy Scott. Ben Maciver-Redwood and Jude White completed the set with Jason Blake securing a loose ball to offload to Ed and onto Jude to seal a comfortable victory.

There was a big Tavistock squad turnout of 21 players who had game time and all gave their own contribution from Archie Allen and Robin Bickley to Jack Easton and Connor Baker in the backs.

This was a great all round effort and with no other games being played yesterday Tavistock defied gravity to move up to the top of the table.
