TAVISTOCK finally achieved the away victory so sought after through the season. In a game that had little effect on the league standings the Moorlanders were free to play some expansive running rugby.

The game started in quite a contained fashion. The visitors enjoyed the majority of possession early on but could not quite break the Wessex defence - not until the returning George Hillson broke free from his own half to finish a well taken try. A couple of Hillson penalties extended the lead before Wessex hit back with a try of their own.

Further home tries from Hadfield, Friend and Schuttkacker took the game away from Wessex before half time.

The second half saw the game open up further and the ball moved end to end as both sides enjoyed much attacking success. Hillson and Friend both completed hat-tricks and Ethan Lamerton finished a well constructed try to seal the season off in style.

The win was a fitting send off to Tavistock RFC’s Will Reed who retired from coaching duties and others with a win to his name. The club and players alike thank Will for his continued support and voluntary work within the club and community.
