Once again the colours of Okehampton Running Club have been spotted at races all over the country. Nearest home and the toughest challenge was the Dartmoor Discovery — an ultra marathon of over 32 miles.

Okehampton Running Club's Roger Voaden, Paul Carter, Rob Kelly and Marilyn Cooper were among the field with support from family and 'roving reporter' club mate Christine Fritsch, who rode the whole way on her bike whilst sending pictures and news of progress via social media to the members back home.

There were good results for ORC with Roger, Paul and Rob winning the award for the second men's team, competing against much larger clubs. Paul won a strong MV50 category and Marilyn completed her first ultra marathon.

Times: Roger and Paul 4hrs 31mns 02secs, Rob 4.48.03, Marilyn 6.10.52.

Cold and windy weather in the Lake District for the Grasmere Gallop 10k trail race did not deter nearly 400 runners taking part on a beautiful route along Loughrigg Terrace with views of Grasmere and Rydal Water. It was a family day out for Mags Jarvis who was first FV60; her daughter Sarah was first lady and her brother Chas ran too.

The Yately 10k in Hampshire is part of Sandhurst Joggers' popular summer series. Dave Mugliston had a good race here to finish 71st from nearly 900 runners in 40.32, and at the Run Exe Summer 5k series in Exeter Nick Seccombe posted a fast 17.59 and Stuart May 20.29.
