Tavistock thirds 0

OPMs 1

THIS game between Tavistock thirds and Old Plymouth Mannameadians was played throughout torrential rain.

A full and large squad of 16 players for the home side saw a much improved performance on previous weeks. Its midfield quartet of Campbell, Staig, Walker and Gunter-Leece worked tirelessly throughout, creating the necessary pressure up front to create goal scoring opportunities as well as performing  their defensive duties; this reduced the away side to scant opportunity in front of goal. When attacks did come they were ably dealt with by Oxenham in goal and the defence comprising Glanville, Gott, Monger Tanner and Cull.

With no score at the interval Tavistock continually looked to attack and the resultant build up play was intricate and skilful.

It was however, a break from the opposition that lead to the only goal of the game. Tavistock’s Mason was bossed off the ball and a diving Monger was unable to stop the ball crossing the line.

The Tavistock side continually pressed in the last quarter of the game and created good pressure in their ‘D’.

Short corners came and a much improved routine saw Andrews feeding Staig who got his shots in only to find their keeper’s pads.
