BERE Alston Trekkers (BATs) finished 2019 on a high after being awarded first placed club in the Armada Network 2019 Grand Prix.

They also had two members winning their respective age categories and 15 members receiving the Armada’s Achievers’ Awards for completing seven or more events from the Grand Prix list.

The Grand Prix was made up of 11 events during the year hosted by member clubs. The counting races were Tavy 13, Ivybridge 10k, Bere Pen 10k, Muddy Duck 10k, Magnificent 7, August’s Armada Summer 5k Series run, Muskies Madness, Treggy 7, Tory Brook Trial, November’s Armada Winter 3k Series run and the Lopwell Loop.

Affiliated club members received individual Achievers’ Awards if they completed seven of the 11 events; for BATs these were presented to Tanya Argue, Paul Ashton, Debbie Ashton, Lisa Birch, Pauline Cole, Melanie Greaves, Samantha Harte-Latremouille, Martin Head, Hilary Head, Shaun Hingston, Natasha Hingston, Kate Medhurst, Dominika Nawalany, Julie Page and Kelly Shaw. Additionally Tanya Argue and Martin Head won their respective age categories.

Following the individual awards, the club awards took place to the top three clubs for attendance at Grand Prix events. Bere Alston Trekkers received first place with second and third place being awarded to Plymouth Harriers and Plymouth Musketeers.

BATs thank all its members who supported the club in the Armada Grand Prix. The Plymouth Musketeers and Plymouth Harriers were second and third place teams in the event.

The Armada Athletics Network is a self-funded group of England Athletics affiliated Clubs in the Plymouth, East Cornwall and West Devon Area who work together to promote athletic opportunities for all, no matter of age or ability. The network includes Bere Alston Trekkers, City of Plymouth AC, East Cornwall Harriers, Erme Valley Harriers, Instinctive Sports, Launceston Road Runners, Moorhaven RC, Plymouth Harriers, Plymouth Musketeers, Plymstock RR, Storm Plymouth, Tamar Trotters and Tavistock AC.
