OKEHAMPTON Golf Club hosted a Charity Golf Day last month in aid of local support groups for people suffering with Parkinson's disease and their carers. More than 90 players from all over Devon and beyond enjoyed a sunny and fun day on the course with the eventual winners being a mixed team of Mo Huggins and Lorna Rolfe from Ashbury Golf Club and Lorna and David Evans from Okehampton Golf Club. The day was rounded off with a prize giving, raffle and charity auction. The event raised almost £1,800 which will be divided between the existing Parkinson's Support Group at Tavistock and the newly formed group in Okehampton. The organiser, Val Dodsworth, Okehampton Golf Club's lady captain thanked all the local sponsors and the club members for their tremendous support.
