OKEHAMPTON Running Club's 'Oke Croak' attracted a good field for this challenging ten and a half mile fell race. Starting in Simmons Park the runners made their way out to the moor along Ball Hill to start the steady climb up Goat's Path to Oke Tor, passing through the hole in the rocks. Then participants scrambled up the rough and steep slope of East Mill Tor before the final climb to the top of Yes Tor and a welcome descent past the army camp back to the finish. Conditions on the day were good — dry and clear with a strong breeze. The race was won by James Jackson of Dartmoor Runners. Sharon Daw of Mud Crew won the ladies' race with ORC's Karen Skye being the third lady to finish. Dave Mugliston was the first home for ORC. ORC times: Dave Mugliston 1.43.08, Karen Skye 1.50.08, Jason Ewing 1.57.33, Greg Miller 1.59.55, Brian Welham 2.03.40, Marilyn Cooper 2.09.06, Mike Westland 2.11.43, Ali Holiday 2.14.42, Lucy Skye 2.14.43, Andrew Humberstone 2.26.00.
