ONE hundred reception pupils from local primary schools attended the first ever OCRA multi-skills session for their age group at Tavistock Track this month.
The day started ominously, with rain threatening but, as the forecast said, the rain went away and the sun came out just as the children arrived to start the fun activities.
For two hours, the children sampled taster sessions in gymnastics, badminton, fencing, running and football and enjoyed playing parachute games. There was much laughter and lots of energy and the first reception multi-skills day was enjoyed by all who attended, including the adults who accompanied the children!
This was the last multi-skills session of the school year with pupils from years reception, 1, 2, 3 and 4 having their own days at the track since last September. The sessions will start up again in September.
St Rumon’s School, which could not make the morning session, was catered for in the afternoon when four coaches went into the school in the afternoon to deliver fencing, badminton, running and parachute games to the reception children there.
