ASA Zonal Championships South

MOUNT Kelly Swimming took 13 pupils to compete at the London Aquatic Centre in the ASA Zonal Championships (South West of England, South East of England and London areas).

The team came back with four silver medals, seven bronze medals and six Mount Kelly age group records broken.

Danielle Baker and Emily Cutler took silver and bronze in the 100m backstroke with times of 65.71 seconds and 66.28. Dani's time was a new 16 year old Mount Kelly age group record.

Julian Chan Quee Lin was just out touched for the gold in the 200m freestyle, taking the silver with a time of 1 minute 52.63 seconds, while Emily Cutler took her second bronze with a Mount Kelly record of 2.21.21 for the 16 year-old 200m backstroke.

Megan Bowen (17) broke three school records with her swims in the 200m freestyle (2.04.80, bronze medal); 400m freestyle (4.24.95, bronze medal) and 800m freestyle (9.10.79, silver medal).

Chloe Barrow won two bronze medals - 100m fly and a great swim in the 50m fly for a new Mount Kelly record of 28.78.

Harry Hathaway was a silver medallist in the 1500m freestyle with a time of 16.48.61.

Toby Stanyer also came home with a bronze in the 200 metre backstroke.

Other Mount Kelly swimmers who took part were Jake Bentley, Louis Gautier, Finn Linton, Will Luckham-Down, Abi Rawlings and Alex Seymour.
