MOUNT House School sent a strong team to the Brickfields to compete in the Plymouth Year 8 Athletics Championships against eight other schools in the Plymouth area.

The Mount House girls were outstanding - finishing first overall out of the nine schools competing by a 50-point margin from their nearest rivals. The boys' team, consisting mainly of Year 7 pupils came in an impressive third.

On the track, Jonty Walliker took second place in the boys 800 metres, and Romilly Carrick came second in the girls' 1500 metres. Samantha Unsworth-White broke her own school record in winning the 75 metres hurdles in 11.57 seconds, and Emma Manton won the 100 metres in 13.34 seconds.

Climax of the track events was the girls' 4 X 100 metres relay, which was won by the Mount House team – Ella Cunningham, Emma Manton, Jess Huntington and Samantha Unsworth-White – in a time of 56.34 seconds, beating their own school record for the second time this season.

In the field Charlotte Moore came second in the shot; Finlay Rose won the triple jump and Jonty Walliker the high jump. George Stubbs won the boys' javelin, Jenny Guy the girls' discus, and Jess Huntington the girls' high jump. Emma Manton won the girls' long jump.
