MOUNT House School pupils achieved notable success in one day equestrian events, competing with young riders from all over the South West of England.

The events test the riders and their mounts in three equestrian disciplines — dressage, cross-country and show jumping.

Emma Manton and Michael Treneer represented the school at the Blundell's South West Schools event. Both produced superb dressage tests and both went clear across country at a fast pace to finish within the time limit. Emma also rode a clear round in the show jumping and finished on her dressage score, achieving second place.

The following weekend saw Emma Manton represented Mount House at the Independent Schools One Day Event at Stonar in Wiltshire. This competition attracts 400 young riders from around 100 schools across the UK. Emma entered the 90cm 15 years and under class in which there were 37 competitors.

In challenging weather conditions, Emma and her pony Mick Dundee produced an excellent dressage test and went clear in the show jumping and the cross country. They finished on their dressage score of 27.5 points, achieving a creditable fifth place.
