THE two U9s pairs format cricket matches between Mount House School and Kelly resulted in a win for each school.
In the U9 A team match, Mount House were put in to bat, and got off to a slow start as the Kelly opening bowler took two wickets in the first over. Throughout the innings runs off the bat were relatively rare, but extras kept the scoreboard turning over.
Newman and Brudenell-Bruce were more positive, and Du'Gay and Crichton kept building slowly, but two lost wickets for this pair reduced the final score to 238.
With a low score to defend, the Mount House bowlers defended it by keeping the bowling tight and fielding well to frustrate the Kelly batsmen. In total nine wickets fell, with Verey and Du'Gay the pick of the bowlers and Crighton keeping wicket well. Kelly ended up on 218 to give Mount House a 20-run winning margin.
The B team match was a cliff-hanger. Starting on 200 Mount House batted well to reach an impressive total of 275, with Noordewier and Spiers playing some good aggressive shots. When they batted, the Kelly side did well against some decent Mount House bowling, and finished an exciting afternoon by scoring the winning run off the final ball of the match.
