IN a high scoring 20/20 match at Ipplepen, the home side batted first and lost three quick wickets with the score at only 17.

However, Australian Matt Fairbanks entered the scene and aided by Abbott took the score to 79 before Abbott was bowled by Gardner for 35.

Fairbanks continued to attack all the Chagford bowlers with shots all round the ground before  being dismissed for a scintillating 72 including three sixes.

Wakeham with 45 not out and Harvey 12 not out continued enabling Ipplepen to read a formidable target of 183 for 6 in their allotted 20 overs.    Only Del Lammonby with 2 for 23 was able to offer any restraint to the Ipplepen batsmen.

In reply Chagford's Divan Marais and Jim Fulner, opening for the first time together, made a steady start just about keeping pace with the required pace.

At the half way stage of 10 overs the Chagford score was 89, still 95 short of victory.  With four overs left the target was  39, but after an opening stand of 157, the Chagford hopes were dented when Marais was well caught on the boundary for an excellent 84 off Fairbanks.

However, Fulner and number three Jon Wright held their nerve to see Chagford home by nine wickets with just three balls remaining, with Fulner finishing on 78 not out.

Chagford remain unbeaten in this 20/20 group.
