Halwill 1
THE hosts will feel bitterly disappointed they did not gain anything from this
well fought contest against a resurgent Halwill team.
Much of the first half was dominated by unyielding defences that were able to nullify either sides' approach play.
When play did reach the keepers, both handled competently with Ralph in the home goal making the only notable save of the period, diving to his left to turn away a low shot to the bottom corner of his net.
The second half was but six minutes old when Johnny Knight took advantage of a defensive slip and clipped the ball past the advancing Ralph.
Chagford were on the back foot and defending to stay in the game.
Ralph blocked another Knight attempt with centre-back Ashley Jackson making timely clearances.
The introduction of Oscar Emanuel and Josh Stanbury gave Chagford more guile and pace, as they stepped up their forward play.
Again, chances went begging for the final pass into Halwill's area was not up to scratch. Paul Penberthy bravely smothered the ball at Miller's feet and showed confidence in dealing with crosses sent in.
