Devon D Filliegh v Whitchurch WHITCHURCH's battle for survival had another chastening blow away at Filleigh. The visitors batted first and were soon in trouble.  Zimbabwean Mbofana exploited pace and bounce in the pitch to have Whitchurch reeling at 32-3. Billy Barriball (30) and Rob Bone steadied the ship but run scoring was hard work. Tom Jackman then showed his potential on the way to top scoring with 34. Megicks chipped in with 17, before Mbofana returned for a second spell to wrap things up. Mbofana claimed 6-18 off eight overs, but was well supported by Hickman, Henry and Boyd. Whitchurch were dismissed for 143 with more than six overs to spare. Kerswill made an early breakthrough for Whitchurch, but Filleigh soon found their range. Henry and Boyd added 54 for the second wicket with Boyd completing a rapid half century. Only Kerswill (2 for 38) and Barriball (1 for 11) could contain the rampant Filleigh side. Boyd departed for 73 but by then the game was up. Filleigh eased home with six wickets and more than half the overs in hand.
