WITH only three men available, Golf A knew that there would be only one outcome from their visit to Tavistock Snooker League ‘table toppers’ West Devon A, and that is what transpired.

Doidge put up a fight against West Devon A’s Taylor before Taylor clinched a low scoring frame 35-24, nothing to ‘write home’ about for either player.

Brookes found it easier going with his win over Golf’s Pope to take WD A four-up.

Golf A’s new player Ninnis nearly took the last frame as a consolation, but as is often the case, playing Morris, it is never over until it is over, as Morris took the black ball to win this close encounter.

So five on the night for West Devon A, with availability of players seeming to be the ‘Achilles’ heel for Golf A to keep any momentum going.

A dismal performance from Conservative Z team left their opponents, Conservative A, celebrating a much deserved 5-0 victory in this one sided affair.

Lillicrap (junior) struggled against Boulton (32 and 22) from the off, managing to score only two points in this opening frame.

He was followed by Hodge who likewise struggled against an in-form Carruthers (31), hardly managing to put a dent in his opponent’s game. Mayors for Con Z team, did his best against Wiles and managed to keep it neck and neck that is until Wiles put away a 27 break and left Mayors floundering to make up the deficit.

Lillicrap (senior) fought valiantly against Bell racking up a grand total of 30 points (the best Con Z team score of the evening) while Bell went on to grab a total of 65 and another point for his team.

Evans for the A team was under little pressure from McKechnie (junior) and romped away with the final frame of the game for a resounding win for his team.

Tavy A continued their winning ways at the expense of Conservative C on this occasion, although 3-2 reflected how close it was.

Hicks for Tavy A had no problems brushing aside Davey, with a 28 break thrown in for good measure.

Davies soon had it level for the Con C with a reasonably comfortable win over Lyall, followed by Bassett giving them the lead as he removed Dolan’s unbeaten record in a close frame.

Con C could have clinched the match as Hall went down to the colours with a lead only for Dent to pull it back from the brink with a fortuitous blue followed by a good black ball finish.

There was never any doubt about the final frame with Tavy A’s skipper Evans powerful potting proving a ‘bridge too far’ for Jago.
