BANK Holiday Monday sees the 10th running of the Peter Tavy Plod which is run in conjunction with the Peter Tavy Fayre.

Over the years the race has grown in stature and 2013 promises to be the best ever say the organisers.

The mens' race could witness a showdown between arguably Devon's top two road runners where course record holder Jim Cole faces the formidable challenge of Tom Merson.

Equally the ladies race sees last year's winner Rebecca Mingo facing previous winner Jo Meek, who earlier in the year came second in the Marathon des Sables arguably the toughest endurance race on the planet.

The Peter Tavy Plod race, which is run over a five mile scenic course comprising trail and moorland, also features a one mile fun run for children and the races start at 3pm.

The organisers Dave and Louisa Chanter are grateful to its main sponsor The Original Pasty House and the support of Gibbs Kirby estate agents and local brewers Tavy Ales.

There are prizes in numerous categories and mementos to all runners.

Organisers look forward to runners of all levels taking part and registration will be from 2pm in Peter Tavy Village Square.
