LILY Mills, who has been a member of Tavistock Athletic Club since 2008, has been named as the club's 'athlete of the month.'

The talented teenager first represented the club in the one lap indoors event at Dawlish aged 9; however, these days she does not run very far, having focused on field events with great effect!

At the recent county championships, Lily won all three field events in the U15 girls: the shot, discus and javelin — setting a personal best in the shot with 10.05 metres.

Last weekend at the Devon school championships, Lily, who attends Devonport High School for Girls in Plymouth, earned first places in the shot and javelin, setting two further PBs along the way.

Lily is currently in 14th place in the national shot rankings for her age group and 18th in the national javelin.

When not competing, Lily spends most of her free time on a skateboard or BMX bike as well as playing for Tavistock Girls' Rugby team.
