WEST Devon A came to the match on the back of two 5-0 victories, and were hoping to add another scalp in their quest for the Tavistock Snooker league title this season.

It was clear, however, that Conservative Z were in no mood to be intimidated by their opponents' current run.

Symons for Con Z was in sparkling form and against WDA's Taylor he took control and refused to loosen his grip, notching up an all-time personal match best of 60.

Two old adversaries, and one time team mates, Hall and Heathman, held an intriguing black ball game with Heathman the eventual close winner.

McKechnie for Con Z drew the short straw. Pitted against Kevin Rich and despite a performance and score line from McKechnie that would normally win a frame, Rich continued his deserved unbeaten run. Phil Mansfield in his debut this season was involved in a titanic struggle with Keith Morris. An hour's worth of nip and tuck, neither player wishing to concede to that fatal error that would hand the game to their opponent. Eventually Morris found the chink in Mansfield's armour and went in for the kill.

Dodd for Con Z has perhaps underachieved so far this season but this last frame of the evening showed what he is capable of, leaving Emptage of West Devon A reeling with only 10 points to show for his efforts with Dodd notching up an impressive 53.

Conservative B travelled to West Devon B and came away with a decent 4-1 win as West Devon B found it increasingly difficult to replicate their early season form.

John Rich found it difficult against Lillicrap who plugged away at it to put Con B 1-0 up.

The Con B's 'super sub' Ewings could not have had a more difficult draw as he faced up to West Devon's Hoar. Despite Ewings making a reasonable fist of it Hoar proved the stronger and pulled West Devon level.

Hats off to Gilchrist who drew the Con B's 'star man' Dent and his gritty performance that forced the 'free flowing' Dent to have to clear the last balls with a 22 break to overcome.

A good showing from West Devon's Horrel was not enough to stop Con B's Mart McKechnie, who weathered all that was thrown at him, to make it three for his side.

A rock steady visit to the table from Dolan took the last frame for the Con B as he capitalised on the lack of form and confidence from West Devon's Rich (senior).
