Belstone Colts v
Wellow and Plaitford Colts
WELLOW and Plaitford Colts, on tour from the New Forest, played two 20-over games against Belstone Colts.
In the first match the visitors were progressing well at 94-4 with four overs left after good contributions from Sampson (22), Oliver (23) and S Higgins (30 not out), but then they lost five wickets for seven runs to finish on 101 for seven.
Tom Fogerty was the best Belstone bowler, taking 4-8. Belstone's reply was always behind the asking reply and, with wickets falling steadily, they were all out for 66 with only Dan Fogerty (12) reaching double figures.
In the second game Belstone restricted the visitors to just 76 from their 20 overs with S Higgins (25 retired) again top scoring and Ryan Dennis (4-0-14-3) taking the bowling honours. An opening partnership of 20 between Ryan (14) and Dan (24) got the reply off to a good start but the middle order fell away as Sampson took three wickets, leaving 21 runs needed from the last three overs with only three wickets standing. Scott Tremain and Tom Boother then took 11 off the 18th over but Boother then played out a maiden over from Lerway. With 10 required off the last over it was an exciting climax. With two needed off the last delivery Tremain (23 not out) got the faintest edge past the keeper to scamper those two runs for a three wicket win.
