St Stephen 0
Lamerton 2
LAMERTON got off to a confident start against St Stephen and deservedly took the lead with a well worked goal after 15 minutes.
A Paul Breyley pass split the defence from a free kick to James Steer, who crossed the ball to an unmarked Richard Seale who from ten yards out fired the ball into net. The away side doubled theIr lead midway through the first half when a cross from right wing Blair Vanstone was fumbled by the St Stephen keeper, Alex Mayne was the quickest to react and slotted the ball into an empty net.
St Stephen looked more of a threat in the second half and with the home side pushing forward Lamerton had to dig in to disrupt any attacks from the Saints. Steve Lake and man of the match Paul Breyley were superb in the centre of Lamerton's defense and with goalkeeper Chris Wearing commanding everything in the penalty area. St Stephen were reduced to taking speculative shots from distance.
Simon Kelly was unlucky not to extend Lamertons lead ten minutes from time when 40 yards was superbly tipped onto the crossbar by the St Stephen keeper.
