Hail storms, a poor playing surface and against a side who are looking to be crowned Duchy premier champions; Lamerton were under pressure from the start.
However. with the visitors setting up with five across the midfield, it resulted in the Ashes stuggling to create many meaningful openings.
Saltash found a way through the Lamerton back four in the 30th minute. Tony Jane with a chance from six yards should have put the Ashes ahead, but Lamerton keeper Pete Daniel was on hand to make a superb save down to his left hand post. Lamerton made it to half-time with the scores level.
Saltash were getting visibly frustrated with not being able to make a breakthrough as the second half progressed, with Pete Daniel making a string of fine saves.
With Lamerton legs tiring due to the constant pressure it was only a matter of time before they conceded and in the 70th minute a neat one two from Saltash on the edge of the Lamerton box saw Josh Fedrick from six yards. Fedrick side footed the ball past Daniel and into the corner of the net.
Saltash were gifted a second goal just five minutes later when Simon Breyley diverted the ball into his own net from a corner.
The hosts ensured all three points with a third in the 80th minute when keeper Daniel was unable to keep out a headed effort from Ashes striker Tony Jane. Lamerton scored a consolation goal in the 90th minute with a solo effort from Blair Vanstone, whose shot from the edge of the box squirmed though the hands of the Saltash keeper and trickled over the line.
