LADIES' football teams are wanted for this year's Son Rise Cup seven a-side tournament on Sunday, May 24.

The popular annual event, held at Crowndale in Tavistock, promotes action for Autism, and brings together abled and disabled on and off the sporting field, as part of the three day Son Rise tournament.

Tania Coker, Tavistock Community Football Club ladies' manager, told the Times: 'With only a few weeks to go it would be really great to have lots of ladies' teams from Devon and Cornwall involved in this year's son rise cup to help raise money and awareness for a great cause as well as enjoying a day of football.

'Last year we had around 13 to 14 teams involved which made a great day of football. After our great season of finishing top of our division and reaching the Devon cup semi final, we are hoping to do well.

'There has even been interest from teams further afield so it's shaping up to be a great event. Teams will need to get entries in quick to get a place.'

The ladies' event will be held in memory of Tavistock woman Caroline Goldring, who died in 2014, from cancer, aged 28.

The registration fee is £30 per team. For registration forms, rules and more information visit http://www.sonrisecup.co.uk">www.sonrisecup.co.uk or contact Son Rise secretary Diane Thomas on [email protected]">[email protected] or 07964 608349 or Allen Lewis on [email protected]">[email protected]
