CONSERVATIVE A stretched their lead at the top of the Tavistock Snooker league to a massive 12 points with a 5-0 win away to West Devon C.

It was not all plain sailing though as the wily Fred Hodge opened up a 20 plus lead on Con A's Lacey as he controlled most of the game. Lacey showed his cool as he overturned the 21 point lead with only 22 on the table, culminating in a cracking pink and black to steal the frame from under Hodge's nose.

Con A's Carruthers hit a purple patch and with a highest break of the season 42 to overcome Jamie Montgomery while Con A's Cook edged out Mr Elliott on the black. Con A's Evans (20) demonstrated a powerful display of match-play snooker to overpower West Devon's Williams, with Longden (21) continuing his good form with an emphatic win over Grigg to make it five for the Con's. West Devon B went to Conservative C and came away with a good 3-2 win which pulled them away from the league danger zone.

Con C's Neale enjoyed a comfortable win over Bath but a good showing from John Rich pulled West Devon back as he beat Con A's Bassett. West Devon skipper Gilchrist, put his team in front with a dominant display over Bundy while. Jago was out 'ground' by Cliff May, who pounced on the black to steal it for West Devon.

In the final frame Hoare took advantage of a wayward Roger Rich to take a comfortable frame for the Conservative A.

At the bottom of the table there are with only two points separating four teams.
