IT was all off-road and cross country on trails, cliffs and beaches for Okehampton Running Club at the weekend.
Husband and wife team Keri and Jean-Paul Quertier found a good race at Rame Peninsula organised by Surf n Turf events which took them on a tough 11.8 miles of trails through villages, fields, up and down cliffs, and beating the tide along the white sands of south Cornwall’s longest beach. Both recorded excellent times with Jean-Paul finishing in 1hour 51minutes and Keri in 2.05.
The club have entered the Westward Cross Country League for the first time, a series of six races in Devon and Cornwall sponsored by Frank Elford Sports of Plymouth and assisted by City Runs.
Unfortunately only one member was able to attend the first race at Plymouth, running for the senior ladies in the FV55 category.
The club is hoping for a good turnout for the next meeting at Newquay.
