KELLY College pupil Sian Temple has been selected to represent South West England, at the Just Giving Virgin London Mini Marathon on the April 21.

Earlier this year, Sian was selected for the Devon squad after she won silver medal at the Devon Schools' Cross Country Championships held at Plymouth's Central Park.

Furthering her strong run in Plymouth, Sian went on to represent Devon at the South West Schools' Cross Country Championship. She finished sixth out of 54 in the junior girls' race and was the highest placed Devon athlete.

These superb achievements were made all the more impressive as in both instances Sian was competing against runners who were a year older than her.

The London Mini Marathon features the last three miles of the main marathon course, meaning the athletes pass all the major landmarks, such as Embankment, Westminster Bridge Street, Big Ben, Birdcage Walk and Buckingham Palace to finish through the marathon gantries in The Mall. Large crowds and wide television coverage are also promised to be in attendance, making this event one to savour.
