YELVERTON Tennis Club players Andy Weymouth and Terry Leonard battled their way to win the Plymouth and district lower divisions men's doubles in its open tournament. 

The dynamic duo also play alongside captain Phil Gasche, Simon Murray and Chris Taylor for Yelverton men's A team in the P nad D Tennis League where they are currently unbeaten and top of division five. 

Team captain Steve McCormick and Mike Shaw have been regular players in the new men's B team in division seven.

Yelverton Ladies' A team, mainly consisting of captain Angie Lynch, Ann Short, Fiona Spreadbury, Julia Whetton and Mags Berry, have had some closely contested matches in the division three and are sitting mid table with two weeks to go.  Against St Budeaux they included Helen Smith and won 6-3. 

The Yelverton Ladies' B team captained by Lynne McFarlane and her team of Fiona Smart, Wendy Sharland and Fiona Murphy beat St Mellion 6-4. The B team are at present top of division four and hoping for promotion.

The Ladies' C team, ably captained by Anne Shaw, with team members Karen McCormick, Carole Llewellyn, Hilary Monk, Nicky Gabb and Lucy Scott are currently third in division five.  

Yelverton Tennis Club members are looking forward to more fun events this summer with the ever-popular Pimms Tournament arranged for August, followed by the annual Summer Club Championships.
