OKEHAMPTON Flyers duo Adela Wrzecionko and Margo Ward delivered strong performances at the Inter-Regional Challenge Cup Final in Birmingham’s Utilita Arena.

The Inter-Regional Challenge Cup Final is a British Gymnastics national final for regional level gymnasts.

To represent the South West at the national final, gymnasts had to compete in two SW qualifying competitions in January and February, and qualify for the regional final in April.

At the South West final, they had to come in the top two in regional grades 1-4 in their grade and age group, to qualify to represent the SW.

Margo qualified in regional one, 11-12 girls trampoline whilst Adela qualified in regional four, 15-16 girls trampoline and regional three, 15-16 girls double mini trampoline (DMT).

Harlow Savory-Webster also qualified to represent the South West in trampolining, with Gracie Cann and Evie Nicks qualifying as reserves in DMT and trampoline respectively.

Margo came 10th out of 26 in trampoline, with two tidy routines, and an especially high execution score for her set. It was Margo's first time competing at a national final and in a big arena such as the Utilita Arena, and she also competed her new voluntary routine from the South West final, with several linked somersaults.

Adela achieved an eighth out of 21 for regional four trampoline, competing a half out and a new barani double back link, and ninth out of 16 in DMT, with a new tuck back double front link.

She also showed real resilience, having returned from a school trip in France the night before, and was therefore unable to train the week leading up to the event or attend DMT orientation (a practice in the competition hall before the event).

The gymnasts are now working towards upgrades for regional and national British Gymnastics competitions next year.
