TAVISTOCK Athletic Club put on a superb showing at the latest of the monthly Run Exe 5k series on Tuesday evening, organised by City Runs in Exeter.

The August event attracted eight TAC runners, with an equal mix of senior and junior members taking part. The course, on footpaths and cycleways round the Exwick playing fields and the River Exe Flood Relief, is perfect for those seeking to achieve fast times.

Nikki Bond was responsible for the stand-out performance of the day from the TAC runners as she achieved her goal of breaking 17min for the very first time - finishing in 16min 58s. She was the first FSen runner to finish, bettering her time in the July race by 24s, and breaking her own club record over the distance.

Also performing extremely well were Sam Larkham and U16 runner Arthur Norton. They took ninth and 10th places overall, finishing just a second apart with times of 16:35 and 16:35.

Sam has been massively consistent over the five races of the series so far with times between 16:20 and 16:39, putting him in fifth place over the series in his M40 age category. Life member Adam Holland, finishing this race in 17:36, sits in fourth place in the series in his M35 category.

Juniors Charlie Cleland and Jack Anthony both returned excellent results in their U16 age category, finishing in 18:54 and 19:15 respectively. Also running were Anna Kelly, completing in 27:23 and U18 runner Jessica Brazier, finishing in 28:28.

The last race of the series takes place on September 1, with the best four races to count over the six-race series.
