RECENTLY martial artists from the south west were given the opportunity to participate in the 5th Jikishin Summer Camp and competition which took place in Cornwall.

Jikishin is a large jujitsu organisation with clubs all over the UK as well as other countries around Europe and as far away as South Africa, therefore their courses are attended by practitioners from all over the UK bringing a great wealth of knowledge and experience.

Umberto Bergonzini, the Tavistock and Plymouth clubs' instructor, said: 'I'm thankful to Trevor Wickett, instructor of the Jikishin Jujitsu club in Trewidland, for organising the event and for extending the invitation to me and my students.

'It was a very interesting course enjoyed by all.

'I also enjoyed being put on the spot and being asked at the eleventh hour if I wanted to be part of the teaching instructors. My answer was an immediate yes!

'It was a great and enjoyable experience to teach people from all over the UK.'

From September all clubs are running beginners courses.

Anyone is welcome to come and try jujitsu be it for fitness, confidence building or wanting to learn self-defence. The first month is free.
