IN the second Round of the U15 ECB Cup Cornwood won the toss and batted first

Devon U15 all-rounder Matt Skeemer raced to 53 off the first eight overs before retiring as per the rules. George Thompson (29) and John Whitfield (26) kept things ticking along but the Yelverton bowlers did not lose their heads.

Despite losing Josh Halloran early on the Yelverton reply saw skipper Warner was in belligerent form. Warner and Ben Pearson put on 50 for the second wicket in good time before Warner was yorked by Skeemer for34.

Pearson, aided by Sam Skelton (17) kept Yelverton in the chase, but good support bowling from Jacob Horgan (1-13), Caite O'Keefe (2-19 4) and Matt Skeemer (1-18 ) never allowed Yelverton to up their run-rate in the gathering gloom and the innings closed on 117-6 when the overs ran out, to leave Cornwood winners by 26 runs.  Ben Pearson was 46 not out at the end.
