THE Christmas medal at Hurdwick Golf Course was actually played under a medal format despite the horrendous conditions.

This format makes good scoring difficult in the strong winds and heavy rain but the course condition was respectable taking everything into consideration.

Most members struggled to battle the elements, however a few outstanding scores shone through.

Stan Bennett won the competition with an excellent nett 65 winning score.

Tim Baxter’s nett par 69 earned him second place while a nett 70 gave John Hutton third place.

Joanna Wood from Hurdwick Golf Course said: ‘While the future competitions look like they will be played in similar conditions, the course improvements and Stableford format should help to assist in better scores for the members.’
