EIGHTY three players took to the course at Tavistock Golf Club for the men’s John Morris medal, played in conjunction with the Mercedes qualifier.
Colin Nolan was first in division one with net 68, closely followed by Stewart Ewens with net 69 and Mark Russell with net 70.
Scoring was close in division two with Nick Coe on net 70 and Mike Watkins with a net 70 on count back from Bill Phillott and Rob Score.
Jas Singh had a net 70 in division three; second was Callum Watkin on net 71 and third, Harry Western, with a net 76. Colin Nolan was the winner of the John Morris medal and Stewart Ewens, Nic Coe and Jas Singh were winners of their respective divisions in the Mercedes qualifier and will represent Tavistock in the next round at Churston in June.
The Chicken Trophy is a ‘fun’ match between the Veterans Emerton Court team and ladies who played in the county match teams. It was closely fought this year but the veterans had a narrow win by four and a half to three and a half.
