TAVISTOCK Golf Club players have been out in force enjoying the glorious summer weather on a course in great condition but with fast greens. In the Juniors Simon Gilder Medal Trophy Emma Greening had an excellent nett 67 to take the trophy. The runner up was Tom White with nett 69 and third was Luis Inacio with nett 71.  In the Simon Gilder Stableford for novices (handicaps above 28/36) first with 44 points was Joshua Lethbridge.   In the men's four ball better ball with 44 pts were Graham Horton and Peter Leverton; close behind in second place were Ed Smith and Lewis Reid with 43pts on count back from Adam Bridgewater and Jack Philpotts. Not only were the scores close but there was a record number of 22 twos.  The ladies' medal was played in conjunction with the Elaine Cooper Trophy for players with handicaps of 19 or below.  First in division one was Maggie Hillman with nett 69, second Penny Deakin nett 70 and third Hilary Picton nett 73 on count back from Kayleigh Cann.  Topping division two was Julie Harding with nett 72 on count back from Jill Millichamp and Alison West. Winner of the trophy was Maggie Hillman. The ladies had a good win against the men veterans winning the Cooper House Trophy six and a half to 21 and a half for only the second time in ten years. The ladies' Still Cup team and the men veterans continue to do well in their county matches.  The ladies have qualified to play in the semi-finals of the Still Cup to be held at Staddon Heights in August.  In the Emerton-Court Trophy the men veterans, in their away match at Honiton, had a great result winning on aggregate six and a half to three and a half.  They now go forward to the quarter finals.
