THE 16th Chillaton Fun Run and Walk was a wonderful day with a large number of villagers taking part, running and walking and making the most of the event.

The run started from the Marystow Church green this year - a new location that provided a longer and hillier route than in previous years and a challenge which all who took part approached with zeal and caution, bearing in mind the hot weather. It was enjoyed by all.

The joint first men home were Ryan Passmore and Mike Collingwood while the joint female winners were Olivia Breyley and Zoe Roast. The first boy home was Lucian Roast, closely followed by Jack Breyley. The first girl home was Jessica Roast, followed by Amelia Jewitt and Ashlea Ford.

The runners, walkers and spectators refreshed themselves after the fun run at the village barbecue that followed. This was another successful event for the village, with more than £100 raised to be shared between Marystow Church, Shelterbox and CHICKS.

Organisers thanked everyone that supported the event and made it possible.
