Cornwood offered several chances which Whitchurch spurned, until Webber held on to a catch off Andy Hall.

Knight (34) and Collins (20) added 50 for the second wicket and seemed to be in control — the Whitchurch bowling varying from tight and disciplined to wayward.

Josh Vernon then struck twice in quick succession to remove both the set batsmen.

There after Cornwood found run scoring difficult and collapsed from 62-1 to 106 all out.

Vernon took 4 for 29 and Webber 4-26. Webber passing up the chance of a hat-trick but redeeming himself with a stunning catch off his own bowling. Macrae closed off the innings with the only ball he bowled.

After the early loss of Dunne, Doug Vernon (25) and Potts (26) saw off the Cornwood attack. Davies caused lots of problems without reward.

Fifty three was added for the second wicket when Vernon holed out off Lake.

Marais then decided to get the game over with a quick-fire 26 not out to see Whitchurch home by eight wkts with 19 overs in hand.
