TAVISTOCK AFC reserves came from behind to claim an excellent 2–1 away win against a strong, physical Liverton United side, the South Devon Football League’s Division Two.

The hosts led 1–0 at half-time courtesy of Theo Rad but Tavistock regrouped during the break, made a few changes and began to play to their strengths.

Their hard work paid off when Theo Standing drew them level in the second half.

With the match still in the balance, Reece Jones struck in the 70th minute to complete the comeback and secure all three points.

Shortly after, it went from bad to worse for Livvy as Robbie King was sent off by the referee.

It was a determined team performance from the reserves, who showed plenty of character and togetherness to turn the game around.

This win has Tavistock in fourth in the standings on seven points, behind the leading trio of Galmpton United (12 points), Kingskerswell (nine) and Newton Abbot Spurs 3rd XI (also seven).

The Lambs will kickstart October with a huge test as they play host to a Galmpton side who are yet to even drop a point.

In Division Five, Tavistock’s 3rd XI had a slightly less successful day as they were beaten on the road at Newton Rovers.

Ben Backway put the visitors in front but they were quickly pegged back by Charlie Swiderski before Cameron Davis struck twice to secure the victory for Newton.

The 3rd XI started the campaign with a defeat to Tamerton Foliot and followed it up with back-to-back wins prior to this weekend so they have a balanced 2-0-2 record to date.

Fourth-placed Tavistock host sixth-placed Waldon Athletic 2nd XI on Saturday, October 3.
