TAVISTOCK AFC 2nd XI got their first victory on Saturday, September 12, since merging into the South Devon Football League.
The Lambs hosted Paignton Saints 2nd XI in Division Two and won out 3-2 with Aaron Hughes and Daniel Udo amongst the goals. This was part of an ideal weekend for the club with the 1st XI beating Ivybridge Town by four goals to one in the FA Vase and their 3rd XI also prevailing.
Taking on Watts Blake Bearne in Division Five, Tavistock 3rds won 5-4 at home, Ryan Smale scoring twice and being joined on the scoresheet by Mathew Davidson, David Harwood and Tom Pritchard.
Alongside the usual league action, there was also plenty of cup football which included a Premier Cup victory for Newton Abbot 66 over higher-league opposition Brixham AFC 2nds.
Also triumphing in the competition were Newton Abbot Spurs 2nds whilst True Blues and East Allington United fell at the first hurdle.
The big game in the top-flight between Kingsteignton Athletic and Lakeside Athletic went to the visitors who enjoyed a 4–1 victory and remain the early pacesetters.
In Division Two, Gampton Utd and Newton Abbot Spurs 3rds share top spot following good wins.
Galmpton scored five without reply against Ivybridge Town 2nds and Spurs won 5-2 against a good Ashburton side who have played the top two teams in the opening two weeks. Nick Garett, Dylan Price, Jack Bailey and Montell Peart were the Spurs target men.
Horrabridge Rangers and Bere Alston United both moved on in their respective knockout competitions.
The former won 4-1 away at Witheridge 2nds in the Intermediate Cup, Harry Bowden (two), Hayden Simpson and Jaeden Parnell-Moses with the goals.
And then the latter hosted Plymouth True Blues in the Premier Cup thanks to strikes from Jack Biscoe, Aaron Hicks, Raine Chinnock and Kieran Coleman.
