Duchy five
Boscastle 1
Lamerton CFC 6
IN a tricky away game at a windy Boscastle pitch Lamerton had two new signings, Jamie Court and Ben Pridham making their debuts.
The match got off comfortably for the visitors while playing down hill and with the wind behind them it did not take long to score their first, Pridham headed home from a superbly whipped in corner form Nathan Panter. The second soon came when quick thinking from Ben Backway, saw him throw a long ball to Paul Cowling, who calmly eased by a defender to set Panter up for a tap in. It was now all Lamerton, with goalkeeper Josh McDonald looking more of a spectator and the back four soaking up any pressure which came their way.
The third goal was a carbon copy of the first with Panter setting up Pridham for a bullet header to give the goalkeeper no chance. Boscatle could not cope with with the strikers, and captain Steve Gibbings, Cowling and Court’s constant battling in midfield it soon became four. Panter was fouled in the box resulting in a penalty which he cooly stepped up to place the ball in the corner of the post. The hosts looked depleted and with their heads down Pridham rubbed salt in their wounds by volleying an unstoppable shot passed the goalkeeper to grab his hat-trick and Lamertons fifth; captain Steve Gibbings finished off the scoring with a thunderous header hitting Boscatle for six.
The second half was a half to forget as the driving wind made it hard to play any football, but Boscastle got a consolation goal to make the game finish 6-1. Man of the match was Jamie Court.
