THERE were no late heroics from goalkeeper Dan Holman for Tavistock AFC this time around.

The Lambs welcomed a Portishead Town side to Langsford Park who are most people’s favourites to claim the Western League crown.

It was the hosts who opened the scoring on Saturday, August 29, though, Jack Crago converting from a Rhys Lindsell cross within the opening 10 minutes.

Tavistock remained a goal to the good at the turnaround but the Posset came out firing for the second half and edged them in front courtesy of Hamish Hurst and Josh Jenkins.

In-form Tom Chastey then bundled home a cross from Reece Shanley to restore parity for Tavistock.

Steve Tully’s side were unable to keep Portishead at bay though and the away side regained the advantage through Jaden Neale, earning all three points as a result.
