CALLINGTON FC LADIES’ FIRSTS 9

PLYMOUTH ARGYLE DEVELOPMENT LADIES 0

CALLINGTON welcomed two more signings to their squad in the form of Rhi Bailey and Daisy Self.

Both Exeter-based players were introduced after just 15 minutes when a young Argyle side were on top in the opening exchanges. Before long Callington were in the driving seat, as they put away three quick-fire goals. It was former Argyle players who did the damage with Ezme Wells netting twice along with striker Gabi Alphous.

The second half was all one-way traffic as Callington’s experienced midfield begun to dominate. Grace O’Leary and Bailey were making things tick for the home side before Self put away four goals inside the second 45 minutes. The pick of her goals being a calm lob from 25 yards with the keeper left stranded. Keri-Ann Moxom and Ellisha Davey completed the comfortable win with goals in the second half. Davey’s was the pick of all nine as the young winger curled a stunning effort into the top corner after coming off the bench.

CTLFC first team manager Adam McPherson said: ‘We found some rhythm in the second half, we played some devastating attacking football. Daisy just put herself in goal-scoring positions time after time but then had the quality to make it count. Our three summer signings including Daisy and Rhi have really added elements to our squad that were maybe lacking.’

CALLINGTON FC LADIES’ SECONDS 5

LAKESIDE LADIES 3

THIS was Callington Town Ladies second outing for their newly formed second team this time with Lakeside who replaced Illogan in this friendly fixture.

The game was still played in competitive spirit and across the 90 minutes was well-matched. Callington raced to a 3-0 lead thanks to goals from Louise Ham, Lisa Pearce and Gemma Farley. However, Lakeside came back to make it 3-3 in the second half.

Callington’s manager Lee Mann changed formation to a more attacking 4-3-3 formation in an attempt to get the side’s first ever win and it paid off when Farley grabbed two further goals in the final 10 minutes to complete her hat-trick.

Player of the match was Callington’s Gemma Farley while 16-year-old right-back Katlyn Bentley impressed on her club debut.
