FOUR members of Tavistock Run Project, coached by David Chanter, were selected to represent Devon at the inter counties half marathon championships as part of the Great West Run in Exeter.

With thousands of runners taking part it is a popular event with an undulating but scenic course. The two male, Devon participants from TRP were Jordan Andrews and Ben Neale; both ran a strong race with Jordan coming fifth overall in a personal best time of 1 hour 11 minutes 38 seconds and Neale clocked 1.16.20 coming 13th place.

The TRP ladies also had a great day with Sam Lake (racing for Devon just one week after Chester Marathon) finishing sixth lady in a time of 1.29.49 and Rachael Malthouse completing the Devon quartet finishing eighth lady in a superb PB time of 1.30.20. Lake won her age group F35 - she was first out of 250 women.

Due to the superb efforts put in by all of the county team from across the county (10 athletes in total; it meant Devon won gold in both the men’s and ladies championships.

This was an excellent result by all and another superb weekend for Tavistock Run Project.

The club coach David Chanter was also busy racing this weekend. He took part in the Bedford Duathlon where he raced in the sprint distance event which involved a 5km run, 20km bike ride and 2.5km run all in one go! Dave ran and biked really well to finish in a really strong time of 1.20.36.
