ORGANISERS of the Okehampton Sports and Fitness Festival are looking for football fanatics who would consider entering the event’s five-a-side com-petition.

There are separate men, women and veterans’ tournaments being held on the festival’s marquee ‘Super Sporting Sunday’ event in Simmons Park on July 16.

Stuart Lord of OCRA said: ‘Last year we had 40 teams from all over Devon and all teams are assured lots of games. Get together with friends, work colleagues and team mates.’

Now in its 17th year, the festival offers a wide range of sporting opportunities across a whole week, with many of the town’s sports clubs offering taster sessions and throwing open their doors to people wishing to either try a new sport or come back to an old favourite.

The event climaxes with the ‘Super Sporting Sunday’, which sees Simmons Park and the grounds of Okehampton College full to the brim with a huge range of sporting activities. Parklands Leisure Centre also gets involved in the event.

This year, activities include free swimming, a climbing wall, gymnastic and trampolining, running, tennis, badminton, dance, music and much more.
